I am a qualified counsellor and founder of Aligned Minds Counselling, with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Counselling, alongside my FdA in Counselling. I was also awarded the Prize for Academic Excellence during my degree. I am a registered member of the BACP and am currently continuing my professional development through postgraduate study in Psychology and Counselling. I offer a warm, compassionate and confidential space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life, without judgement. My particular areas of interest and experience are addiction, gambling and gaming harms, trauma, co-dependency, and the impact of addiction on family members and loved ones. I also support adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, shame, loss and significant life changes. My approach is person-centred, relational and trauma-informed, with the therapeutic relationship at the heart of my work. I believe that no two people experience their difficulties in the same way, and I work collaboratively with each client to understand their individual experiences, needs and goals. My professional experience includes working within addiction services, supporting individuals affected by substance use and behavioural addictions, and working with the wider impact addiction can have on relationships and families. My understanding of addiction and recovery is also informed by lived experience, which has given me a deep appreciation of the courage it can take to seek support. I bring this understanding to my work while maintaining clear professional boundaries and an ethical therapeutic focus. I believe therapy should provide a space where you can feel heard, understood and safe enough to explore difficult experiences at your own pace. My aim is to support you in developing greater self-understanding, choice and confidence as you move forward. I offer face-to-face counselling in Durham, as well as online and telephone appointments. Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. You do not need to have everything worked out before you arrive. Sometimes you simply need somewhere safe to begin telling your story. Tell me your story – I am here to listen.
